Ladymead
Retail Park |
he
suburbs and industrial side of Guildford extends to the north
of the town centre. The Ladymead area offers extensive
facilities for 'one-stop shopping' especially for the
home, with free surface car parks in front of the
stores.

This 'superstore area'
is found on the way out of central Guildford on the A322
Woodbridge Road. On the way up this road on the left
near the junction with York Road is the large police
station with Guildford Crown Court set further back
next to the Cinema complex. On the right of the
road running north are several residential roads of
traditional Victorian terraced houses and facing the road are
a few shops and solicitors' offices. This side of
Guildford is not particularly special, particularly in the area
of the A25 and the A3 running East/West in an
elevated position behind. This is the functional,
practical and modern day side of Guildford supporting numerous
industries, large and small ~ every town has to have them.

The River Wey flowing up towards Dapdune Wharf |
Travelling in this
direction leads towards the Guildford suburbs on the north
side of the A3. This sprawling area incorporates Park
Barn, Woodbridge Hill, Rydeshill, Stoughton and Bellfields.
The little village of Jacobs Well borders countryside
leading onto Whitmoor Common and the countryside beyond
towards Woking.
