Guildford Station Area ~ Facilities and Parking

uildford Main Line Railway Station is situated at the start of Walnut Tree Close at the western entry into the clockwise one-way system. This main line station runs frequent trains into London Waterloo and in the fastest times of approximately 40 minutes. 

This is the low-lying 'heart' of Guildford where road, rail and river come closest together and traffic is continuous and heavy.  Long Term car parks can be located as shown. This is a very busy spot, but nevertheless it has an attraction, bustling and full of character although the rear of the Friary Shopping Centre is a solid brick wall of ugly proportions.  

The old river warehouse buildings are finding new life becoming rejuvenated into some of Guildford's lively night spots.  The Electric Theatre stands in the centre of the large one-way system and the river below is always an added and unexpected feature. 

Yvonne Arnaud Theatre

To the south of this large roundabout running out of town on the A3100 and immediately keeping left, leads to the area of Millmead and Guildford Council Offices.   The navigable river is used frequently by pleasure boats of both 'Rosie and Jim' appearance and smaller rowing boats.  Across on the opposite riverbank from the offices is the rear of the large Debenhams store and the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre draped by the boughs of large willow trees.
