Guildford
Cathedral from Onslow Village
|
his
west
side of Guildford is best known for the modern and
imposing lines of its dominating cathedral set on
Stag Hill in an elevated position, overshadowing
immediately below the University of Surrey, its
Halls of Residence and general campus.
Unfortunately the historic charm of Guildford is rather
lost here in the suburbs, the major communication route
of the A3 is a dominant feature and the noise from the
road is noticeable over some distance. The Royal
Surrey County Hospital and Research Park
together with Tesco superstore make this a busy
spot. This
is the practical and 'modern day' side of Guildford,
aesthetics mostly don't come into it.
