From the headmaster:

At St John's we set out to provide a first class all-round education to boys (from age 13) and girls (in the sixth form). Whilst the traditions and customs follow those of the best boarding schools, St John's is equally sought after by those parents seeking a day education for their sons and daughters.

One of the great features of St John's is its size. Having a roll of no more than 420 enables all students to participate fully in the life of the school, to have their achievements recognised appropriately and to develop strong feelings of belonging to our community.

Talk to current students - as I hope you will when you visit St John's - and I am confident that they will wish to tell you about their school: the warmth of the atmosphere, the quality of the teaching, the standard of the facilities, the extent of the off-site activities, the advantages of the co-educational sixth form, the assistance they give in running their school by taking on responsibilities and the sheer attractiveness of the quad and grounds- especially if the sun is shinning.

At St John's. we are also committed to providing our students with the best possible preparation for life at university and beyond. Our aim is that every leaver should have the academic qualifications, inter-personal skills, adaptability and confidence to take full advantage of the opportunities that will come their way.

I this prospectus, we have endeavored to develop some of these themes. We hope that you will enjoy browsing through these pages and will feel encouraged to come and visit us and find out more about the exciting range of educational challenges on offer.

I look forward to meeting you and your family at the start of your tour of St John's and to sharing with your current and future aims for students, staff and parents.
