ixth Form Colleges specialise in open access 16-19 year old education.  Schools and general FE colleges also provide such courses,  but also serve a whole range of other groups.  The average pass rate at A level in Sixth Form Colleges is better than in state school sixth forms and often matches the best performance in independent schools.   Because of specialisation these colleges offer a much wider range of courses than other institutions.   AS level courses, GNVQs and GCSEs are also part of the curriculum so students can select a learning programme to match their individual needs.    Additional courses such as IT, sport, drama, languages, general studies, work experience and community work are available and enable students to develop in every way.
